Information about the Representative Office of India, Ramallah, State of Palestine REQUIRED UNDER SECTION 4(1)(B) OF THE Right to Information ACT, 2005

Particulars of its organization, functions and duties

Representative Office of India  is headed by the Representative, who is the Head of the Mission.

Functions of the Representative Office inter alia, included political and economic cooperation, trade and investment, cultural interaction, press and media liaison, bilateral/multilateral contacts, rendering consular service including through Embassy of India, Tel Aviv also.

Mission functions within the purview of business allocated to the Ministry of External Affairs under the government of India's Allocation of Business Rules/Transaction of Business Rules.

Powers and duties of its officers and employees

Administrative  powers are derived from Fundamental/ Supplementary Rules, IFS (PLCA) Rules, as amended from time to time and Delegated Financial Powers of Government of India's Representative Abroad. Other powers are derived from Passport Act of India & Consular Manual.

All the officers function under the guidance and supervision of the Representative/HOM.

Decisions are taken as per extant rules and guidelines, where applicable and under the instructions and supervision of the Representative/HOM.

Representative Office of India functions within the norms of India's foreign policy formulated by the Ministry of External Affairs. The policy is implemented by the Representative office under the guidance and supervision of the Representative.

Statement of the boards, councils, committees and other bodies consisting of two or more persons constituted as its part or for the purpose of its advice, ad as to whether meetings of these boards, councils, committees and other bodies are open to the public, or the minutes of such meetings are accessible for public.

Representative Office interacts regularly with representatives of think tanks, academic community and others.

Representative Office does not have any subsidy programme

Representative Office does not  grant any permits or concessions.

Representative Office website has the required information. Representative Office also makes available to interested individuals various Brochures, CDs and DVDs containing information on India, its people and culture.

Representative Office open from 0830 hrs to 1700 hrs from Sunday to Thursday. The holidays observed by the Representative Office are given on the website www.roiramallah.gov.in

DOPT publishes the RTI guidelines and circulates to all concerned.
CPIO has already undergone DOPT online course on RTI.

Policy making lies with Ministry of External Affairs. All policies and decisions concerning citizens are put in public domain through social media.
